I longer eat processed foods. When I did, I tried TVP and wasn't impressed with the texture or the flavour.
Eventually, I figuered that it didn't add up that something so highly processed could be better for us than what our ancestors ate as they evolved into what we are today.

Are my children in danger of being indoctrinated if I let them spend the night with their JW family?
by Butterflyleia85 inso... i'm writing because i have mixed feelings.
keeping my kids safe is my goal... until they are old enough to understand and reason on their own.
my mother gave me the tapes (that i gave her back in december) of combating mind control by steven hassan, saying that she didn't have a tape player... reminded me of three years ago when i gave her crisis of conscience by ray franz and she said it's to big book to read and she's not a reader.

Apologies to LisaRose, but her advice could cost you your relationship with your children forever.
I wish garybuss was still around to put you straight on that one. Best to learn from other people's mistakes than your own.
His advice, after making this mistake, went something like this .... Never leave your kids alone with a practicing, preaching JW. Last I remember hearing is that his kids still shun him.

I thought it was because he was showing off by killing fig trees, which steals from widows and travellers, and killing thousands of pigs, which wrecks the local economies.

If you don't teach your children critical thinking ability and how to use it even when they don't want to, or are being manipulated into not using it by someone they respect (that includes you), then they will never be completely safe in unsupervised contact with any high control cult member, including the ones you haven't considered a risk yet.

Phizzy, they didn't even claim it happened.
They want the reader to arrive at that conclusion without them having to make the claim (because it would be a lie), and without providing evidence for it (because there isn't any). They have pulled out one of their favorite tricks of not lying, but not telling the truth, worded in a way to fool the reader into believing something the author doesn't believe himself and never actually said.
